Lactozyme® is a supplemental source of the probiotics Lactobacillus acidophilus (DDS-1) and Bifidobacterium bifidum organisms. Each tablet supplies 50 million organisms each of Lactobacillus acidophilus (DDS-1) and Bifidobacterium bifidum organisms when packaged. Although antibiotics kill bacteria, they don't discriminate between the friendly and unfriendly organisms, so following antibiotic therapy the balance between good and bad bacteria in the intestines can be upset. Probiotics aide in restoring this balance.
